The Role of an ECoW

An Ecological Clerk of Works plays a critical role in managing and overseeing environmental compliance and ecological best practices on construction and development sites. They ensure that projects adhere to environmental regulations and sustainability guidelines, conduct regular site inspections for potential ecological impacts, and provide expert advice on biodiversity conservation and habitat protection. Additionally, they liaise with environmental managers, project managers, contractors, and environmental stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies, monitor species and habitats, and facilitate compliance reporting, thus promoting responsible development while minimising ecological disruption.
